Gurdwara Rori Sahib- A sacred place with divine pebbles

It is quite a known fact that summers are usually hot in Punjab. The scorching heat diminishes the beauty of every important monument. We hardly want to visit them in the summer. But there still exists some places that call for the visitors throughout the year due to their sacred stories. You find a sense of satisfaction and warmth there. The same is the case with “Gurdwara Rori Sahib”. During scorching heat, it has never lost its importance.

Location:

Gurdwara Rori Sahib lies in Eminabad, Pakistan, about 1.5 kilometers away from a village Talab. Eminabad is a small but famous town in Gujranwala and about 74 Km from lahore. Grand Trunk road is linked to this location. The importance of its locality becomes double with the presence of two other Gurdwaras: Gurdwara Chakki Sahib and Gurdwara Khushi Bhai Lalo.

This place is famous for celebrating Hindus’ and Sikhs’ festivals due to the presence of temples and Gurdwara.

History:

As you move from muddy rocks, you can see a red brick building that seems haunted due to its broken structures nearby but now government is working on it to restore in original condition. Just like other Gurdwaras, Rori Sahib has a very interesting history narrated by Sikh scholars.

In the times of Mughal emperor Babar, when he conquered Punjab in 1521 Baba Guru Nanak was living with his fellow Bhai Lalo. Babar arrested some people from Punjab among which Baba Guru Nanak Sahib was also included. When forces came to arrest him, Baba Ji was sitting on the place reciting some verses that had pebbles (rohri) below. When he was arrested, people made a Gurdwara building honoring this incident.

Architecture:

The whole building of Gurdwara Rori Sahib is a fenced architecture. The inner sanctum is led by three-story archways. It is all made up of red bricks having a rusty look umbrella shaped domes also known as Chatri. Finial decorations look amazing. To enhance the beauty, your eyes will be cherished by a lotus-shaped dome and a big verandah.

You can also see some marbles or pebbles lying in the same place Although, they are not the same as original ones it’s just a commencement of that incident. There is a pool about which a myth rotates that if you bath in that, all your sins will be washed off. It also increases the beauty of the whole architecture.

The bygone glory:

Baisakhi is a very famous festival of Sikhs. It was celebrated with full zest in the times of earlier agricultural times. Although the agricultural land is still owned by the Gurdwara the enthusiasm is somewhat faded now but with the inauguration of Kartarpur more and more Sikh pilgrims are coming to visit this holy place

The Government has not given much attention to the building, which is a sad fact.

God’s creation:

God can be seen in any of its forms. He can create and even destroy. One-touch can create Hajr-e-Aswad and the other can turn ordinary stones into divine pebbles.
